Kearsley Youth Brass Band

Kearsley Youth Brass Band.

Anyone interested in forming a Kearsley Youth Brass Band? Young people looking to learn or improve their musical skills while making new friends and having fun?

Preliminary plans are in place to form a Youth Brass Band supported by Bolton at Home’s housing arts service and based at the newly re-furbished Kearsley Mount Methodist Church, Conference and Community Centre.  Young people with an interest in playing in the band are invited to come along to the first of 5 introductory sessions starting  on Tuesday 18th May at 6.30pm at Kearsley Mount. Also anyone who would like to be involved in the organisation and running of the band are welcome to attend a meeting on 13th April at Kearsley Mount starting at 1.30pm.. The band would be run independently of any other organisation.

For further details or to give notice of your intention to attend can you please contact Stephen Tonge on 01204-575324 or email

Meeting held on Tuesday March 23rd 2010

This was a good first meeting with 18 people attending. We had a surprise visit from Gordon Higginbottom, the famous brass musician. His father, John, conducted the Kearsley Silver Prize Band in the 1950s and 60.

We decide to form a Steering Group and they will meet on Tuesday 13th April at Kearsley Mount starting at 1.30pm. This meeting will decide how the Bnad is run etc.
