We started our Saturday morning walks on the 25th September. It was a circular walk from Rivington Barn to Yarrow and Anglezarke reservoirs, then back alongside Upper Rivington Reservoir to the Barn. We were very lucky with the weather; it was a lovely sunny autumn day. We ended the walk with a lunch at Curlys Fisheries, Horwich. All had a good time Ten people enjoyed the 4.0-mile walk
Our second walk was on the 23rd October. The walk was at Pennington Flash Country Park. The morning started very wet which meant fewer people attended, when we arrived at Pennington, the weather changed and we had a pleasant walk, around the country park, stopping at the bird hides, showing Benedict our German friend from St John Fisher the bird life. Harold and Mary’s son was visiting home, and also joined us on the walk. We had a pleasant lunch at Barton Grange Garden Centre. 7 people enjoyed the 4.5-mile walk.
The next Saturday walk will be on the 11th December.
I didn’t do all the summer evening walks, these are the one’s I went on. 28th July. We walked from the Horseshoe Pub towards Clifton, then uphill onto the Outwood Trail, and on to Radcliffe, then along the canal to Knob End and back along the lower canal to our cars and home, 5.2miles.
4th August. This one was a nice easy walk around Entwistle Reservoir, followed by a stop at The White Horse Edgworth. 2.5 miles. 18th August Tonight the walk started from Smithills Coach House car park, we walked to Barrow Bridge; we met a nice elderly couple who reminisced how Barrow Bridge used to be. It was very interesting listening to them. We walked back past Moss Bank Park, then down the road by the old chimney, down to Smithills Deane Road, and back to the Coach House for refreshments 3.1 mile.
25th August. Sorry I didn’t do a write up 8 people attended walking 4.0 miles.
